From Primavalle - Roma
@bkstreetart wrote an awesome review about the history of the district and about this piece
Primavalle is one the Roma’s suburbs built during Fascism with a gentrification process of the city centre. So in the thirties the people who lived in via della conciliazione, a street near San Pietro, were displaced from the centre of Roma and forced to move in the outskirt.
For this reason the neighborhood, block from the city center, has always been characterized by an antifascist identity becoming the center of the street protests and have hosted collectives and movements of the left wing extra-parliamentary.
Now, Muracci Nostri, a self-financed reality, by the streetart celebrates the humanity and the desire of community of the people that live in the district, maintaining a complete detachment from the speculation of the art system. I have translated into an image that I think it's this district: a bunch of grapes is a fruit, a singular word, composed of many grapes. I drew a leviathan where each grape has a face, a fragment of a district, an inhabitant of Primavalle.
A fragmented entities, like the district, where many people, souls, entities make up a small society, Primavalle district. The District like a vine plant which after being transplanted to another place grows clinging to whatever and create a new social identity. Vite, a polysemic word, which in italian means life and vine plant. Vite like the lives that make up, made up and will make up the Primavalle district.
A special thanks to Maurizio Mequio Laura Piccolo @Laura Lolli @Franco Durelli @Muracci Nostri and all my new friends from Roma
