Working on new paintings for an exhibition late this year in Melbourne. More details soon 💞
I was raised militant atheist but nothing has ever fascinated me more that mythology and religion. I believe myths are instinctually created by the human mind as a kind of software in order to help guide us through the world and make us aspire to collective ideals.
In the absence of religion the instinct to cling to ideals is just as active, but rather than venerating the transcendent, we instead worship the various isms just as blindly.
What bothers me most is the contemporary trend of criticism, dissecting and deconstructing everything from Art to the sacred relationship between men and women. Our current myth is one that pulls apart, that finds fault, it levels people rather than inspiring humanity up.
I was raised to be critical, but now I think there is more value in the search for value than in criticism.
filling me with inspiration and love. 💞

Do you think I realised before or after I stretched this painting that it doesn't fit in the car? 😓
