🔥"My name is Shosanna Dreyfus and THIS is the face of Jewish vengeance!"🔥 I created this piece titled "Burn It Down" inspired by "Inglorious Basterds," as part of my 2016 Femme Fatale solo show with Gallery 1988.
When I painted this a year and a half ago, I never envisioned sharing this piece as a political statement in response to hideous current events, and it's breaking my heart that I'm trying to raise my 3 year old amidst this darkest timeline. Seriously, it's felt like a bizarre alternate reality - how is any of this real? I hoped for better from my fellow humans.
My heart is heavy. I'm considering selling my stock of AP prints of this piece in support of @aclu_nationwide and donating profits. Would anyone be interested? Otherwise, you can find the limited edition of "Burn It Down" through @galleries1988.
Sometimes you're feeling Imposter Syndrome and no matter what you do, you still feel like a joke. So what do you do when you're frustrated and want to toss out everything you've made? Paint a Pickle Rick-maid. I feel better now.
I'm missing San Diego already. Wish I could've spent more time sketching at the Balboa Park's botanical gardens! I love how lush southern California's plant life can be. 🌱🌵🌾 (📷 by @taylor.h.carroll)
(Swipe!👀) Only a few hours remaining for my Art Studio Purge auction happening on my Facebook page! This is your last chance to snag sketches, discontinued prints, and more! ➡️🌟 www.facebook.com/kellymckernanart
Another item in my Studio Purge Auction on FB is this final drawing for my "Metanoia" painting (still in progress). It's the only item without any bids, and you have til 3pm EST to claim it! 💦
I'm finally back to working on the painting I started while at the IMC back in June. This piece is... big. It's 18"x24" but it's also hugely meaningful for me. I'm very excited to finally finish it in the next week in time to debut it at Dragon*Con! Mind you, it's still very much in the ugly stage but getting this skin tone has been a very fun challenge of exactly 600-something layers of watercolor. 😅
GUYS. I've just started moving in my new studio space and my heart is swelling. Since my split and divorce a year ago, I had move into a small apartment, unsure yet of what I could afford, now being on a single income, so my studio space shared my living room. It was terribly difficult at times to focus or relax because there was no literal split between home and work. It's been driving my anxiety bonkers, especially over the last several months. I'm now moving into a beautiful home in East Nashville, 3 minutes away from my favorite coffee joint, and the upstairs room will be mine and @taylor.h.carroll's shared studio space. I'm so so so so thrilled to turn this peaceful nook into my new studio. 💖
"I Want To Kiss the Sickness of My Mind" was created for @archenemyarts "The Way We Rust II" exhibition. This piece was painted with watercolor and acrylic on panel. The original is available - shoot me a DM if interested! ✨
This little study is one of the items in my Studio Purge Auction, which ends tomorrow at 3pm EST! ➡️ www.facebook.com/kellymckernanart
Opening this Saturday at @moderneden is Flower Child, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this group show featuring so many amazing artists! Here's my piece, "Effloresce," measuring 12" x 24" and painted in watercolor and acryla gouache. I had a blast with this! For inquiries, please contact the gallery directly. 🌸
I hear it's international cat day (though that's every day for me!), so here are some of my favorite photos and videos of my feline studio buddy and chair warmer, Marzipan. She's a tortie point Siamese, which makes her pretty rare. She farts when she's happy, loves belly rubs, and is still chasing her tail at 6 years old. Don't forget to give your meow-makers some extra love today! 🐾
I have one AP embellished "Starman" print available as a part of my Studio Purge Auction happening over at my Facebook page. If you missed out on the original run, here's your chance! ➡️ facebook.com/kellymckernanart 🌟
