We usually don't do many collaborations with anyone, but when we do we like to have freedom of expression and being appreciated of our work. A healthy balance between both parties is key to us. This collaboration with DKNY on Times Square, Ny several years back is a good example. Thanks to our lil sister Meghan!
series where we'll highlight women who continue to inspire and *blow* us away with the impact they've made on our city. This week we introduce to you one of our besties and soon-to-be neighbors, JJ Curis (@jjcuris), co-owner of Library Street Collective (@librarystreetcollective). An accountant by trade, JJ never imagined art would be the medium through which she’d make her mark on the city. She and her husband Anthony took an open space on Library Street and turned it into the cutting-edge modern and contemporary gallery that it is today. One of the largest projects to date is the internationally recognized "Z Lot” -- home to 27 world-renowned artists, all commissioned by JJ and Anthony, to paint murals inside the 10-story parking garage. She was also a driving force behind the activation of The Z’s neighboring alley, The Belt (@thebeltdetroit), which is now lined with murals, installations, a rotating exhibition and one of our fav watering holes, The Skip (@theskipdetroit). And if her days weren’t busy enough, she doubles as Bedrock's (@bedrockdetroit) in-house curator. Big ups to JJ for having the vision and the drive to transform these public spaces into Detroit destinations. We can’t wait to be surrounded by all of the creativity you've brought to the block, J. Here we come, Library Street! 🎨💪 | Photo courtesy of @kitandace
