We met @halopigg in Rochester in 2011. An avid streetart nerd turned professional collector and loyal friend. Dan's enthusiasm is something to be adored, for how else can we go through this life if not with a full heart and fire in the soul.

WE ARE ALL DREAMERS. WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS.
Migration is one of the most natural things for humans and animals. We are not static beings. The world has no borders. Boundaries were made by conservative white men with rulers on paper. UNDERSTAND the natural flow of things. Stand up for eachother in solidarity.
Estamos todos los que cabemos.
I dreamt you were very cold and sickly and suffering. I wanted to give you my blanket but you wouldnt take it. Your eyes were very wise and deep and I could feel all your pain and I wanted to help but couldnt. I was really very upset about it, so much so that my emotion woke me up and it took me a while to get back to reality.
The Landfill Meditation Series uses the symbol of the abandoned car - an object once loved and desired, then later discarded - as a metaphor for our relationship to progress and the waste that it leaves behind. This is about integrating the worst parts of ourselves and acknowledging the damage we do to the planet as a whole.
Landfill Meditation makes for uncomfortable viewing: rather than the usual postcard view of Cape Town or Johannesburg, the viewer lingers on unsettling imagery of derelict spaces. “We cannot separate ourselves clean and perfect from the trash we dump out back,” says the video’s voiceover, adapted from Native American author Gerald Vizenor’s short story collection, Landfill Meditation. “Being clean is a delusion.” Landfill Meditation takes the form of street installations, studio paintings and a collaborative video by director @danedodds and myself.
I Had a dream about you... You were creating a portrait of some kind. It was a broken face of someone.
The medium was almost like clay, you were sculpting the work so delicately... I was assisting you.
The face almost became another being.
It was in a single room apartment and we watched the sun rise and set.

If you apply yourself to the task before you, following right reason seriously, vigorously, calmly, without allowing anything else to distract you, but keeping your divine part pure, if you hold to this, expecting nothing, fearing nothing, but satisfied with your present activities according to nature, and with truth in every word and sound that you utter, you will live happily. And there is no man who can prevent this.
