Detail of the foil stamped cover mark on the VACVVM Artist Portfolio Volume One which was released today via @thevacvvm The custom folios feature this Death's Head Moth design by @briansteely and were beautifully produced by @studioonfire with three impressions of foil, duplexed @frenchpaperco stock and were die-cut & assembled by hand here in the Upper Midwest. The contents of each folio include 8 exclusive signed and numbered art prints, one each from all 8 members of The VACVVM. I'm thoroughly stoked with the finished product, couldn't be more proud of these sets. The response was terrific and we immediately sold out of the 200 sets available on the site today but we held back a number of complete folios for the upcoming
Tomorrow will see the release of one of the most involved and intricate projects I've yet to have my hand in. 6 plus months of planning and execution have coalesced into the latest VACVVM release and we couldn't be more proud. I had the extreme pleasure to visit the home and studio of @adam_wallacavage yesterday, a more wonderfully curated collection of curiosities has rarely been assembled nor has there been a more generous and inviting host/tour guide. From a life sized coelacanth effigy in the nautical themed sitting room to the NOS Craig Johnson Zorlac deck in the kitchen this beautiful brownstone was absolutely packed with exotic wonders of every stripe-a bursting cornucopia of earthly and spectral delights. This black on black octopus chandelier is a prime specimen of Mr. Wallacavage's impeccable handiwork and was photographed in its natural habitat as part of the @bloodmilk collection, 2015.
Brilliant little edit of the Capricorn Blues installation process at @lbmaorg via @jordan.ahern - Jordan was steady hustling to capture the action at the museum and elsewhere during the set-up for Vitality and Verve. His fine eye is matched only by his uncanny ability to operate the museum's pest tent zipper systems whilst cradling huge amounts of camera gear. Can't wait to see what else he captured along the way, there's surely a solid hour of footage featuring myself, @nosego and @postersandtoys thoroughly enjoying The Hills by @abelxo among other things...
Screenprinted poster for @initrecords festival, 2009. Steven at Init has been releasing fantastic records from various Midwestern bases for over a decade, I'm stoked to have had the opportunity to contribute art to various releases as well as posters for the 2008 and 2009 installments of Init Fest. If your musical tastes lean toward the heavy, experimental or aggressive I strongly recommend digging through the digital crates over at the @initrecords web store.
