"Abrazos y Besos" This installation was designed to represent my family. The three wooden sculptures in the center (mom, dad and brother) for being the core to my creative growth. The geometric colored shapes (green, blue and pink) represent each one of my kids as blue and green being my boys favorite. The white rectangle paintings on the walls (the five in my immediate family) were intended to not show up well in photographs and for the viewer to observe the texture in person. Last are the three colored shapes designed as benches intended for public use. Also based off of my three kids and their age/personality/mobility levels. There is much more to this but can only get so detailed via IG. I hope those of you who had a chance to checkout the show enjoyed it. ✊🏽💂🏼 📸 @bshigeta

I know some of you say you are big fans of my work (thanks for the love), but you have some competition. Mom and Dad thanks again for having my back and reminding me why I do this. I will never stop making you proud I promise. @jmikkel thanks for the candid shot.
my day ones right here. we all have those friends who have no idea what we do as artists and can't draw a stick figure to save their life but support what we do. I have known these two since middle school and have nothing but love and can't thank them enough for making it to the opening last night. They both made the drive from Fresno one being a little under the weather and the other just in time to catch the last hour of the show. @busseyboy4040 @valleylegs we haven't stop setting and achieving our goals as kids and I hope one day we can do this in another country!
first time drawing on her own and not wanting to put the chalk into her mouth.
this is what 12 years of waiting 600 pounds of material and 4 months of building looks like. 1 of 3 sculptures captured by @micheltrillo.
my wife sent me this pic all happy about her first pig tails. Hahah.
one of the highlights from last night. My dad and his little sister (my nina) and my mom on the right all made the trip from Fresno to check out the opening. Ever since I was a kid my nina has been telling me to use more color I'm trying. Haha. Love you.
When your homie comes through to support your work you can't help but smile this big. Last time she flew half way across the states to attend my solo opening in Minneapolis. @laurenmakk THANK YOU again for the continued support and I appreciate the love as always. ✊🏽💂🏼
show time! Thank you everyone for coming or tonight. Watching people interact with the work and ask so many questions was awesome. ✊🏽💂🏼
in less than 24 hours I will be in Long Beach, CA getting ready for the opening of "Vitality & Verve: in the third dimension" at @lbmaorg. Many artists including myself will have the museum filled with various works and installations. This is my largest interior project to date here in California and has consumed just about every second of my attention over the past four months and I thank those of you who have helped support me on this journey. A special thank you goes out to Ron Nelson of @lbmaorg, Andrew Hosner of @thinkspace_art and Jasper Wong of @powwowlongbeach on the curation and understanding my vision with this. For those of you who can participate please visit http://lbma.org/afterdark/. See you soon LB! 📸 @bshigeta
