wax on, wax off. while my son and I lay in bed both under the weather my other son is creating paintings to make us feel better. It's crazy because he said to me "look dad I'm doing marks just like you and filling up the entire paper". I don't pressure my kids to paint and actually rarely do it with them at all (my wife is the one to do that stuff with them most of the time). But the attention to detail he puts into his work is pretty dope. I do make it a point to have them come and watch me paint large murals with hopes it shows them that it's hard work and let them do a brushstroke. Since he was a small baby he would just sit and feel the detail in objects with his finger and he chewed bite marks on his all the way around crib that were evenly spaced out. Check out his spin technique with the brush! Hahaha. Proud dad moment. ✊🏽❤️✊🏽
Okay y'all well here are the images of the completed project as promised. I want to personally thank everyone who took time out of their days help make this come together. What was supposed to be a small 10x25' mural on this building that was originally brown and light gray, turned into me designing and panting every square foot of the two sides (with the help of others). I'm not sure how much I can go into detail about the design but I will try my best. There are a total of 10 gold circles throughout the two sides (two on one side and eight on the other) that represent gold coins being held together by a red thread (look up the history of the red envelope) and the numbers 8 and 2 are considered very lucky numbers. Lastly the address has three circles in it as the number 3 also represents good luck in the Chinese culture. Tomorrow is the official CNY parade in Fresno and it will take place on the street this building is located on so the timing was perfect and it happened randomly that I painted it during this time. I know it's a lot to read and please swipe to see more images. All photos taken by @rubenrochavisuals. LOCATED AT 1447 TULARE ST IN FRESNO,CA. ✊🏽❤️✊🏽
portrait of my tia Irene I painted around 2003-5 I think. The photo I referenced was taken in the 1960's when she was in high school (Roosevelt High in Fresno,CA). During this time I was just starting to get the ball rolling on selling my paintings (primarily portraits) and it felt good but I wasn't sure if the people were into the abstract symbolism I was incorporating into the work that I had already been doing on its own or the subject matter (a person). I decided to stop doing portraits shortly after and felt if I was going to continue to push the abstract mark making it would be just that. Shoutout to my cousin for sending me this I had forgotten about this piece. 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
numerics installed for the address on my recent project. Located at 1447 Tulare St in Fresno, CA. Final images of the completed project coming soon!
Day two process in Manila for @chinomnl featuring @mike_morales10 haha.
I'm here! sending y'all a hi from the PI.
Hmmmmmmm get a ticket for blocking driveway or fire hydrant? Problem solved! My buddy just sent this to me it was in his neighborhood (glen park). Here's my version of @parkedinsf
Back seat driver. Today was the first time my dudes were big enough to go on rides on their own and they wasted no time to let me know they didn't want to sit with me. Might as well had their middle fingers pointed at me. Hahaha. Proud of you dudes! 🖕🏽🐲🐲🖕🏽
ICE COLD! I got my hands on some of these all weather hoodies I did with @686. A portion of all sales support the Compton Snowboard Club an after school program that allows the youth access to the sport. @michaelakirawest thank you for reaching out and supporting our youth. And shoutout to my homie Ryan for having someone capture this image out in Tahoe. ✊🏽🏂✊🏽
Yesterday was my boys first time at @mclarenbikepark. they came home and told their sister how fun it was and she was mad she didn't get to go (it was during her nap). Well today she had to show them how a two year old gets down! A few cuts and bruises but they get back on their bikes and want to keep going. Proud dad moment. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
The past two days felt like a dream come true. This was my first time painting (something legal haha) in my hometown of Fresno, CA since I left in 2001. I saw friends I hadn't seen in almost 20 years and man did y'all show up!!! I had very little sleep and only took breaks to say hello and hug those who came to visit. This first image captures exactly how I felt after signing my work (@youthoughtsmash thank you for the image). All of my friends and family your support was beyond what I imagined and it felt just like old times. I can go on forever but will stop here for now. More images to follow. ✊🏽❤️🙏🏽✊🏽
