was way good! The writing was good, plot felt pretty solid, the music was very enjoyable and complimented the vibe nicely, and it was really character-driven and -oriented; pretty much all of the characters had really satisfying arcs within the story, even minor characters. Frankly, the minor characters got as much character development as (if not more than) the Panther himself! I really liked that by the end, I felt like Wakanda itself had become a character with as much depth and importance as any of the human characters. Having spent two years in South Africa I definitely saw things that looked very authentically African. It was really fun to hear them speaking Xhosa, which is what I was learning over there.
Also, I know I'm not African or black myself, but even so the villain, Killmonger, felt like he was someone that many viewers would be able to relate to, and though I don't agree with how methods (he's a bad guy after all) I had to admit that he was justified in his anger at least. And his goal was deeper than just "destroy the world" or whatever, so already he was better than most other Marvel villains. Michael B. Jordan played him really well, he was like a prowling predator.
All in all I give it at least 4-4.5 stars.
recently, and here's a couple meals we've made so far. The first is maple glazed pork, green beans, and sweet potatoes, and the second is honey sriracha chicken legs with rice and green beans. Both of them so dang good, and took no more than about 45 minutes to prepare.
Had a pretty neat procedure done yesterday. Found out recently that I have a small tear in the retina of my left eye. Went to a specialist yesterday who confirmed that it seems like it's been there for a while because it's partly healed, but has also detached partly, which is a bit of a concern, so it needed to be addressed so that it doesn't get worse if I ever have some head or eye trauma. So the doc took a laser and zapped it around 200 times into my left eye, essentially spot welding around the damaged area with tiny burns to prevent the retina from tearing or detaching further. It wasn't super fun during it because it felt like staring into the sun, and left me with a headache for a while, but after less than 24 hours I feel no further effects. Modern medicine is pretty darned cool.
In the pictures, the dark line on the left is the tear in the retina and the y shape on the right is the detachment. The pictures were before the procedure.
