I was reminded of my piece "Fester" today, from my 2013 solo show Cognitive Dissonance. That series was the last time I dug really deep into my psyche for a series of works, and while it took a lot out of me to create, I'm ready to do it again for a series beginning in 2018. Over the next several weeks, I'll be catching up on past-due posts on Patreon and then reorganizing it so it's no longer project-based and instead a place where I can share my thoughts, process, discoveries, works in progress, and more. I'm really excited to embark on this new series and pull inspiration from the last few years of my life in order to heal, learn, grow, and cultivate a better understanding of my place in this universe. ✨
Throwback! A whole decade ago, I was a double major in painting as well as photography, as I had completely fallen in love with the possibilities of the darkroom. During those years, I experimented with liquid photo emulstion in watercolor paper and then painted on top of it. This one was not painted, but I loved how it came out, as the process was imperfect and surprises always happened. Self portrait, too!
Last night I ceremoniously burned the wood board that I stretched all 12 Hanafuda paintings on for the last 10 months! It was a really nice way to close out the project on a chilly fall evening with a bonfire. 🔥
The last time I offered open commissions, "Provenance" was created! On Black Friday, I'll be adding five word commission slots in my shop, all small and affordable. The deal is, you snag a commission spot, send me 2-3 word choices and a color, and I'll create a piece inspired by one of those words and using that color primarily in the piece. These commission slots will be completed by mid-December just in time for the holidays! Who's gonna grab them? 💜
Earlier this year I made a huge batch of mounted resin prints with embellishments for conventions. Now that the con season is over, I'll be adding the remaining ones to my store next week, including this one of my "Lady of Light" piece. Stay tuned!
to earlier this year with "Specious," a piece I created for @archenemyarts featuring @ohthumbelina and the Death's Head Moth. 💀🔥 I'm considering making prints available in my shop next week. Who would be interested? 🙋
It's been a crazy 10 months since starting my Hanafuda project, with the ultimate goal of funding the physical cards through Kickstarter! When I embarked upon this project, I took out this little daruma sent to me from Japan by my sweet friend @kittygrimelin45. Daruma are figures of good luck, and start with blank eyes. You make a wish or set a goal and fill in one eye. When that wish or goal is fulfilled, you fill in the other eye! This was such a sweet little talisman to have along this journey. 🎴🎉
Only one hour left to get the Kickstarter exclusive LE fine art giclee season print sets, or mix and match your own! Here is the "Winter" print set which includes "Matsu," "Ume," and "Kiri." 🎴💜👺Link in profile!
