My friend @alexstupak has just opened his 4th Empellon restaurant, this one in mid town Manhattan!! This is the opening day team! Go show some support if you're a fan of his food and his artistic vision!! Hell yeah!!! @empellon
I always find it funny when I post a bit of political content, I get people saying things like "Stick to art", and "Unfollow. I don't come here for your political opinions, just your art"... I have ALWAYS posted political thoughts along with my art on the internet, you can look all the way back to blog posts I made 16-17 years ago.
I ask you to keep an open mind when looking at art and know that many artists from my generation (I'm 41) and background (in particular, graffiti and outsider art) grew up in the politically charged 1990's- the L.A. riots, the Gulf War, women's rights, lol rights, racism... Artists of my generation were often attracted to these issues and we have been making art that is very often political. Some of my heroes were contemporary- Mear, Robbie Connal, and Ralph Steadman but also Picasso, Max Ernst, Siqueros and Kathe Kollwitz, all of whom are highly political historical artists.
Politics have been intertwined more or less through my work since I was in high school and discovered graffiti (itself a political act of rebellion showing dissatisfaction with our rules/government). My work is almost always political, though lately it's very subtle. I can't separate out my art and politics (or my cacti and cat photos for that matter), so please do not "follow" me just for my art. If you want to look at pretty pictures mine is not the account to follow. Peace. Love. Thanks!- Jeff ❤️
