I painted this in honor of my great aunt, Tia Adelaide. She always had a huge smile on her face when she greeted people and it was from a genuine and warm heart. She was walking sunshine! She was like a mother to her doves and other birds. She was a loving wife and Mama to Jeanette, Elaine, and Carlos and a second mom to my mom. She thought it would be nice to fly like a bird. Her favorite color was purple. She shared a birthday with me on November 5th. My life was positively impacted by her...I hope to continue to spread her warmth through my life. I love you, Tia Adelaide!
It was an honor to do this painting. A relative of my friend and art student tragically died in a house fire. She had painted this for her mom and it burned in the fire. I was commissioned to paint her painting in her memory. I’m thankful I got to be s part of this gift for her grieving mother.
There is always hope. This tree was full of branches that indicated new growth is yet to come. Surrounded by dormant plants and what looks dead, I was reminded by the cycles in life. To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
My niece, Maggie (8), wanted to draw a rose with me. We looked at one and drew it petal by petal together. It brought back memories of drawing with my Tio Rey during the holidays. I'm thankful I've been poured into and it's a blessing for me to be able to pour into others.
