It's glazing day for this piece, for my upcoming show at @lethbridgegallery. **Must not forget to add the butterfly's feelers! 🦋
My next still life to be painted for my upcoming show at @lethbridgegallery next month! Can't wait to get started on it! (It took me a ridiculous amount of time to arrange it just right!👌)
This was a photo I took at the end of the day back when I was working on this piece. It makes my palette look tiny! (Not that they are huge palettes - I re-use strawberry punnets. I think I've collected enough to last me well over a year, because my boys are strawberry mad so I buy a lot of them! 🍓🍓🍓)
You can catch this piece at the Holmes Prize for Realistic Australian Bird Art on the Sunshine Coast next month!
Finishing touches here and there... It's been fun painting these Brahminy Kite feathers - so defined, compared to something like owl feathers which seem more fluffy in comparison. (Oil on wood.) This is for the upcoming @trekell_art_supplies group show at @artists_republic. For inquiries or to get on the preview list, e-mail [email protected] 🦅
My Brahminy Kite is looking a little evil with its whole lack of eyes thing, but we'll call it progress! (Oil on wood)

Another peak at how things have been coming along. (Oil on panel for my upcoming show at @lethbridgegallery.)
A bit of a before and after when it comes to layering up these wings. Midway through detailing this one.
A preview of yesterday's work. Brushy little flowers. 🌸
Three overcast and rainy days in a row! Painting weather bliss. 🌧
Almost finished the first layer of this one!
Because the best thing to do when you're on a really tight deadline is to paint aluminium foil.
And... GO! (The still life from the video a few posts back is going on here!)
Today I'm masking off a strip of the deepest blue, which will be the perfect tone to set off the white head and rich chestnut-coloured wings of a Brahminy Kite. I'm working on a @trekell_art_supplies panel for their upcoming "Fruition" group show.
This is how things were looking as I was getting to work on this sweet pup! A special commission from earlier in the year. (Oil and acrylic)
A quick photo of my demo from my workshop today at @workshopbrisbane. A huge thanks to everyone who came along!! 😊
I stained my panel from a few posts ago to bring out the grain some more. Now it's all set to get painting on next week. I can't wait to get started on this one! ⚪️
A quick reminder about my workshop this weekend at @workshopbrisbane. We've even made it longer this time!! Book at work-shop.com.au if you'd like to join us!!
Here's a photo from when I was adding the final touches to this piece. I'm happy to share that it's a finalist in the Holmes Prize for Realistic Australian Bird Art this November! (Oil on panel)
